At North Carolina State University librarians are designing multimedia e-learning resources on information topics that deepen student understanding of how information is created and the scholarly communication process. Unlike library tutorials or face-to-face library instruction that teach skills on how to find and evaluate information, these short, multimedia modules focus on topics such as the peer review process in research, the social construction of information in Wikipedia, the function of a literature review, and how economics shape access to information. Because these reusable learning modules are focused on overarching concepts rather than the use of library resources at specific universities or colleges, they can be used in a variety of instructional contexts and shared across institutions. Come learn about these e-learning resources you can incorporate into your own instruction and share ideas about additional information concepts of importance to learners in an increasingly complex information world.
